THE OLD MAN TUBBY GHOST OF THE DARKNESS 04/01/2003 TO 01/02/2009
Tubby was my very first beagle. I was really fortunate when I got Tubby. I bought him as a 9 month old puppy just out of a starting pen. From the first time I took him to the woods till the last, he always preformed the same. He was the total package. He had plenty of hunt and more heart than some dogs can only dream of. He was a very smart hound. Tubby finished as an ARHA FC at the ripe young age of 16 months. He has placed in every trial that he was entered. I can remember when my buddy Jerry would invite different people to come and run with us. After hours on end the 10 to 13 dogs the others would bring would already be loaded in the truck. Tubby and his buddy Jake were still pounding it out. I raised my share of Walkers in my younger years. It was nothing for my Uncle Butch and I to have 35 to 40 at a time. Tubby was different. Tubby was like a kid to me. It was like he understood everything you said when you were talking to him. After I found out that he was sick we brought him inside to spend his last days. He would get up in my chair just like he had been raised to be an inside pet. We would go outside for walks and I would talk to him like an old friend. I will probably never own another just like him. I miss him dearly.
